Meet Your New Doctor
Aloha from Dr. Sara Pohjola
You deserve to put your health in the hands of someone you feel comfortable & safe with.
Aloha! I’m Dr. Sara Pohjola. I’m originally from northern Minnesota and earned my Doctorate in Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas, Texas. I’ve worked with all ages—from high-level gymnasts to the elderly—but my true passion is caring for pregnant women, new mothers, and children. Every mother deserves expert, compassionate support, and babies benefit from gentle, thoughtful care right from the start.
As a child, I struggled with severe asthma, and chiropractic care helped me breathe better than ever before. That experience shaped my belief in the power of the body to heal with the right support.
Whether helping an expectant mother find relief, guiding postpartum recovery, or adjusting a newborn, my goal is to help you & your little one feel your best. I’m honored to be part of your journey!
Imagine what our community would look like if it were full of parents functioning at their best and children had the best start by having their spines (nervous systems) supported from the beginning! That is my mission at Healing Waters Chiropractic! To help as many as I can, and to leave each person better than I found them. I am so excited to get to know you and your family!

The popping noise you hear during a chiropractic adjustment is called cavitation—it’s simply gas being released from the joints. Your joints are surrounded by fluid, and when a chiropractor applies gentle pressure to realign them, it creates a change in pressure, causing tiny gas bubbles to “pop.” This is completely normal, painless, and not an indicator of bones “cracking” or anything being damaged. Some adjustments produce sound, while others don’t—it all depends on the technique and the individual’s body.
-
No, you won’t get addicted to chiropractic care—but you might love how good you feel after an adjustment! Chiropractic doesn’t create a physical dependency, but many people choose to continue care because it helps relieve pain, improve mobility, and support overall well-being. Just like regular exercise or stretching, ongoing chiropractic care can keep your body functioning at its best. The frequency of visits depends on your specific needs, and a good chiropractor will focus on empowering you, not making you reliant on constant adjustments.
-
The number of visits you’ll need depends on your specific condition, goals, and how your body responds to care. Some people experience relief after just one or two adjustments, while others—especially those with chronic pain, pregnancy-related discomfort, or postural imbalances—may benefit from a more structured care plan.
During your first visit, your chiropractor will assess your needs and recommend a personalized treatment plan. Some patients come in for short-term relief, while others choose ongoing maintenance care to keep their body feeling its best. The goal is always to help you heal efficiently and support your long-term well-being—without unnecessary visits.

While it might feel satisfying to pop your own neck, it’s not the same as a professional chiropractic adjustment. When you self-crack, you’re often moving joints that are already mobile, rather than correcting the areas that are truly misaligned or restricted. This can lead to instability and may even cause discomfort over time.
A chiropractor is trained to target the specific joints that need realignment, using precise, controlled adjustments to restore balance and function. If you find yourself frequently needing to pop your neck, it could be a sign that an underlying issue needs attention. A professional evaluation can help address the root cause—so you feel better without needing to self-adjust.

Unfortunately yes, our office is only accessible by 2 flights of stairs and does not have an elevator. If that is something you think would prevent you from seeking care, we have the option to come to you! Please call or text us at 808.462.7624 to discuss pricing & availability.

Chiropractic care is safe for all ages, from newborns to seniors! There’s no minimum age to receive an adjustment—chiropractors trained in pediatric care can gently adjust infants to support nervous system function, digestion, and overall development. For older children, adjustments can help with posture, sports injuries, and growing pains.
If you’re wondering whether chiropractic care is right for you or your child, a consultation with a chiropractor can help determine the best approach based on age, health, and specific needs. Adjustments are always tailored to be safe, gentle, and appropriate for each stage of life!
